Why traditional marketing still matters today?

Companies often use channels such as print, broadcast, social media, or direct mail to engage their audience for marketing purposes. Although traditional marketing has been overshadowed by digital marketing in many industries today, it is still able to boost your brand effectively. Let’s take a closer look at the reasons why traditional marketing still matters today!

(1)  Connect with local audience

Traditional marketing plays an important role in reaching local audiences and interacting with audiences personally. Today’s consumers rely on relationships more than ever. Local TVCs, newspaper ads, or billboards can put your company in the heart of your audiences. They will feel more organic and less corporate with your brand, resulting in them preferring your brand than your competitors.

(2)  Sustainable materials

Digital marketing needs an ongoing stream of promotional material to keep your audience’s attention.  For some companies, it can be a daily task. Traditional marketing is more sustainable and leaves a longer impression on your audience. Your same TVCs, flyers, or brochures can last longer, thus you don’t have to produce new materials as often as digital marketing does to promote your brand.

(3) Establish credibility

From a psychological standpoint, traditional marketing provides a company more credibility than online marketing. Printed materials and ads on larger mediums are often viewed as more trustworthy, as it seems to associate with established mediums and bigger budgets, the company that can do so must have a financial means. So, the perception is that the company is growing, successful and financially stable.

(4) Reaching a more diverse audience

Digital marketing allows you to target and track your audience. However, if your brand targets diverse audiences, then it is unnecessary to target heavily on a demographic. Especially if you own a small business, reaching a more diverse audience can help with your business growth. Therefore, traditional marketing may be a better option for attracting potential customers.

(5) Easier to proceed

Sometimes the complicated designs and animated features of digital marketing materials might be confusing. Viewers may be distracted by the designs and lose track of the delivered message, causing them to not connect with your brand. Traditional marketing materials can perform better in terms of brand recall. Direct mail takes less effort to read than email, skimming through a brochure is easier than a website, and a 30 second TVC might be more digestible than a 3 minutes YouTube video.

Conclusion

Of course digital marketing is more popular as compared to traditional marketing in today’s world. However, traditional marketing has its own advantages and still matters. Therefore marketers should still consider traditional marketing while planning for their marketing strategies.
