Pre-IPO Series Talk Workshop Third Session: Listing Plans: Preparation, Risks & Reality

SUBANG JAYA, 16 July 2026 — The third session of the Pre-IPO Series Talk Workshop, organised by Shanghai Business Media with the strong support of Sime Darby Property, was successfully held at the Sime Darby Property SJCC Gallery. The session brought together entrepreneurs, business owners and corporate leaders to explore the critical preparations, potential risks and real-world challenges companies may face before and after going public.

Held under the theme “Listing Plans: Preparation, Risks & Reality,” the session featured Mr. Choo YT, Chief Executive Officer of AutoCount Dotcom Berhad, and Ms. Diane Ngu, Partner at Ong Eu Jin Partnership, as the keynote speakers. The session was moderated by Mr. Tey Eng Xin, Editor-in-Chief of ShangHai Elite Entrepreneurs Book of Fame (4th Edition), who guided an engaging discussion with the speakers and participants.

The forum examined the IPO journey from a holistic perspective, covering areas ranging from business models, corporate governance and financial planning to legal compliance and post-listing management. Rather than focusing solely on how to achieve a successful listing, the session emphasised the importance of understanding what comes after an IPO — and how companies can continue creating sustainable value once they enter the capital market.

rawing on his first-hand experience as the management of a listed company, Mr. Choo YT shared key considerations that businesses should address when preparing for an IPO. He also provided insights into the operational challenges, market expectations and growth strategies that companies may encounter after listing.

He emphasised that going public should not be viewed as the end goal of a company’s growth journey, but rather the beginning of a new phase of business management and accountability. To gain and maintain investor confidence, companies need to continuously strengthen their corporate governance, operational efficiency and long-term competitive advantages.

Meanwhile, Ms. Diane Ngu offered a legal perspective on common compliance issues and risk management considerations throughout the IPO preparation process. Her sharing covered areas including corporate structure, corporate governance, due diligence and regulatory requirements.

She stressed the importance of establishing robust internal systems and governance frameworks at an early stage. Proper preparation not only helps companies mitigate potential legal and compliance risks during the listing process, but can also contribute to a smoother and more efficient IPO journey.

The interactive segment generated lively discussions, with participating business representatives actively raising questions on a wide range of topics, including IPO timelines, corporate valuation, fundraising strategies, investor relations and ongoing post-listing compliance.

Drawing from their extensive professional and practical experience, both speakers addressed the participants’ questions and provided valuable perspectives to help businesses better assess their readiness, anticipate potential challenges and plan their future growth strategies more effectively.

As part of the Pre-IPO Series Talk 2026, the session continues Shanghai Business Media’s commitment to supporting business growth and strengthening capital market education among local enterprises. By bringing together the experience and perspectives of listed companies, professional advisers and capital market experts, the series aims to provide businesses with a more comprehensive understanding of the IPO journey.

Through practical knowledge and real-world insights, the programme seeks to help entrepreneurs and business leaders avoid common pitfalls, make more informed strategic decisions and better capture the growth opportunities offered by the capital markets.
