KUALA LUMPUR, 11 June 2026 — The second session of the Pre-IPO Series Talk Workshop, organised by ShangHai Business Media with the strong support of Sime Darby Property, was successfully held at the Sime Darby KL East Sales Gallery. The session brought together business founders, corporate leaders and industry professionals to explore one of the most critical strategic decisions facing growing businesses: Should a company pursue an Initial Public Offering (IPO) or a Merger and Acquisition (M&A) strategy to create long-term value?
Held under the theme “Beyond Expansion: How IPO & M&A Shape the Future of Business,” the session featured Mr. Eric Tan, Group Chief Executive Officer of Catcha Digital Berhad, as the keynote speaker, alongside Mr. Ong Eu Jin, Managing Partner of Ong Eu Jin Partnership, as the special guest speaker.
Through in-depth insights, practical experiences and real-world case studies, the speakers offered participants a deeper understanding of capital strategies, corporate expansion and the considerations that businesses should take into account when evaluating their next stage of growth.
Mr. Eric Tan shared insights from his experience in driving business growth through strategic acquisitions, helping Catcha Digital Berhad expand its operations and strengthen its business portfolio. Meanwhile, Mr. Ong Eu Jin brought more than 25 years of experience in capital markets and corporate transactions, with extensive expertise in corporate financing and transaction structuring.
Approaching the topic from different perspectives, both speakers examined the advantages, challenges and suitability of IPOs and M&A across different stages of business development. They also highlighted the strategic considerations that business leaders need to evaluate before making major corporate decisions.
The session provided participants with a broader perspective on how capital market strategies can influence business growth, while equipping entrepreneurs and corporate leaders with practical insights to navigate an increasingly complex and competitive business environment. The sharing also sparked active exchanges and discussions among participants throughout the session.
ShangHai Business Media extends its appreciation to all participants for their enthusiastic response and engagement. Special thanks go to Sime Darby Property for sponsoring the venue and supporting the successful organisation of the event, as well as Big Onion Food Caterer Sdn Bhd for providing an assortment of refreshments and light bites that further enhanced the overall experience for attendees.
The Pre-IPO Series Talk Workshop is only the beginning. More insightful sessions and relevant topics will be introduced in the upcoming programmes, continuing to support business founders and growth-oriented companies with practical knowledge and strategic perspectives in capital planning, business expansion and their journey towards an IPO.
